SIX OF THE TOP TEN QUALIFIERS We were once again set to repeat last years outstanding 3 out of 4 class wins. But a couple of final round red lights jumped up and bit us. Look out in 2006 we have a couple of scores to settle. I know our customers are the best at what they do and with our help WE will be ready. Thanks to all of our customers for another successful year and we look forward to many many more. Written by: Heath Blanke NCRC

Well it was another great year down at the Orlando World Street Nationals for Neal Chance Racing. We once again had a blast meeting and greeting with our customers at what I now call the NCRC VIP lounge.
This year we brought along Brett Clow "fuel system guru" from Aeromotive to help us out. His technical knowledge was a great help to our customers. It has always been our goal to exceed the norm in customer service. By teaming up with other top notch speed companies we feel you, the customer, will see the gains you expect from NCRC. After all we are not just another "off the shelf" converter company. Look for more of this in the years to come. Once again our customers proved that "You don't stand a chance if you don't have a CHANCE". Here is the run down of our top performers and let's see another converter company match this...

OK I'm at a loss for words here. I don't like repeating myself and sounding like a record. So I have only one new thing to add and then we will let the pictures speak for themselves.
By winning the 2005 Orlando Outlaw 10.5 title Petty and Lynch became the first back to back repeat winners ever in any class in the history of the race.

Sandra Grella of MPW Racing out of the north land has invaded and is taking names. This lady and her crew are definitely on a roll in only the 2nd outing with the car they laid down a 7.309 @ 193.54 and if you think you can cover that check out her reaction times boys !!! How about a perfect .000 in eliminations at the OSCA race not bad for just getting comfortable with the car. At the Canadian Fastest Streetcar Shootout 2005 she had the fastest MPH at a crowd stunning 195.73 and as much as it hurt long time NCRC customer Kevin Parent she also took the home the WINNERS check. A good job goes out to this team and driver and if you see this car in the lane next to you, you better cut the tree down or she's gonna smack it to ya. Look for more of team MPW in the future and as always I will keep you updated as I can. By the way this is not the best pic but it is probably the view most drivers will see of Sandra............

O.K. so its hot here in Kansas what's new? With the temps up and waters going down the 2nd annual Aeromotive Ford Nationals was another success for NCRC. It was great to get out and chat with all the customers and help out when we could.
| I found that pictures don't do justice for the Grounded 67 Mustang of Tom Jacobs and that his wife will make you eat all the popsicles you can handle.(Thanks again ha!! ha!!) If you are out at a race be sure to take a close look at this car and chat with them they are 100% quality people and the car is a work of art. Unfortunately for Tom the lack of track and some nitrous issues sent him home early. |

|
| Donny Walsh was still holding the NCRC flag high and took it to the winners circle for us once again. Congrats Donny and crew on yet another win in 2005 !!!! |

|
| Then there was SSO.... NCRC 1st 2nd 3rd, let's just say it was our weekend. Manny Buginga wIns, John Urist R/U and the "were just gonna test" Mustang of the BOSS Marty Chance taking 3rd. After all you can't win if you don't try. |

And just to let you know we here at NCRC race and test in all kinds of cars and can build a winning converter in anything from a full blown Pro-mod to a bracket car here is a little proof take a look at this....our own NCRC employee Eric Gray takes the win in Pro Ford Eliminator in his super consistent 11 second Capri . A big congrats to him and what a weekend Eric and the boss both go home with money man maybe I should have built a Ford(naaaaaa). So if it's all out power or bracket racing consistency your looking for, you need to look no further.
A big thanks to Procharger for the test day and Aeromotive for the use of their tech guy (Brett Clow) and NMRA for putting on a great event. Look forward to next year and they should have the track ground smooth by then so no more rollercoaster rides. HIP HIP HOOOORRRAAAYYY !!!!!

After a long weekend Chris"Oklahoma beltbuckle" Derrick and car owner Mike McCullough can breathe a deep sigh of relief and all they smell is MONEY MONEY MONEY. If you pay attention to our site you know that this team has been tearing up the midwest 10.5 outlaw scene and there consistency paid off once again. The 2nd series of the NMRA Vortech Outlaw 10.5 brought out a 12 car field and some heavy hitters showed up to take it all. But you still have to put the power to the ground every round. The Mike Duffy chassis, and the Neal Chance converter put down all the power the track could take throughout eliminations as " The Duck" mowed them down one by one. In the final Chris had a close one as he beat Ed Rice with a 7.31 @ 192 to a charging 7.36 @ 199. The next stop for the team is Denton ,TX and just to show you how much them Texas boys love Chris look at this $100 bounty placed on him!
I'm sure the bounty will be more by race day. I think the world of Mike and Chris and if you stop by the pits you will see why but just a warning their Oklahoma humor may be hazardous to your health many a grown man has left their pits crying and crawling back to mama after a few of Ducks jokes and or actions. Me included. Congrats once again. And I look forward to letting you know about the next win. I bet if you beat them your already a customer.......but as they say if you cant beat em join em.

The Real Steel sponsored Street Eliminator series is run in the UK under a strict set of rules. You MUST use 93 octane pump gas,you MUST complete a 20/25 mile cruise(or DNQ) and you MUST run a block treaded street tire. Other than that pretty much anything goes. This is what makes this series so exciting to watch. All the cars are different with unique power combos trying to achieve the same result, to run in the 7 sec zone.
June 25/26th saw the latest round of Street Eliminator action from Santa Pod Raceway in the UK, Unfortunately qualifying was a bit of a lottery due to biblical rain storms on the Friday and Saturday morning of the race. #1 qualifier was Colin Lazenby in the 706ci powered 56 Chevy with an 8.65@179mph. Not far behind at No 2 was Andy Frost's 600ci Vauxhall fresh with a new NCRC converter with a prototype stator at 8.68@172mph. 3rd was Steve "Splinter" Nash in his twin turbo 598ci Mercury Cougar with a lifter breaking 8.95@170mph.
By the time the cruise came on Saturday evening the weather had calmed down a little meaning that the windshield wipers wouldn't have to be turned on!
Both Andy Frost and Colin Lazenby breezed through eliminations running 8.60 and 8.51 @171mph and 8.50 and 8.22 at 178mph. The final was a real close affair with Frosty taking the reaction honors with a .048 to a .081 and staying in front all the way with an 8.42@172mph to Colins 8.50@165mph.
Andy says his new NCRC converter made a real difference to the car. All he has to do is find the right nitrous controller tune and he'll be down in the 8.2's real soon. Andy said "Big thanks to Marty for a great product that works time and time again..."

Jimmy Blackmon has won a lot of races and some titles in his career but this one takes the top billing. Jimmy along with his crew chief Johnny Bradshaw they went to the first ever NHRA organized Outlaw 10.5 race and took home what no Outlaw racer has on his mantle, the NHRA "Wally". Jimmy owner of Straight Line Chassis Designs in Rockmart, GA has built some of the baddest rides around and is proud of his accomplishments but this one should stand tall above them all. Jimmy's 92 T/A has a turbo powered big block stuffed under the hood and they are still working on getting all the power out and to the ground with a little help from that Neal Chance Converter life should be a whole lot easier........

A big congrats goes out to them once again for the win and record setting weekend at Shadyside dragway. Not only did they qualify #1 with a record setting 4.57 but they strung three 4.57 in a row to take the win at the 4th of July race. And talk about fireworks how about the nitrous powered ride kicking out a 1.08 60 foot time.. this car could hook on ice. We hope Terry and the crew can continue the winning and we say thanks once again for letting us be a part of this hooing combo I call the "Bullet"

If you live in the Midwest and have not been to the NEW Tulsa Raceway yet your missing out!!!!!!! We made the trip down for the Clash Of The Titans event and let me tell you it is one of the nicest track surfaces for miles around. In the fist trip to the Tulsa area the Outlaw 10.5 side of the "Clash" (Texas based) was dominated by a couple of home town Okie boyz. Chris Derrick from Oklahoma City better know as "DUCK", who also won the "Clash" event in Noble, OK is again a winner... but this time his bud and Tulsa, OK neighbor "Turbo" Todd Kitchen was there to meet him in the finals. Todd, who laid down a 200 mph+ run in the semis tried his best to lame the "duck" but came up just a little short on this attempt. Chris also runs
a few more Texas based events and I think when he crosses the state line he puts on a bullet proof vest. At the last KOTH (King of the hill) event in Denton TX, he also took the win. If you remember the stories of the wild, wild west I think them Texas boys are lookin to start a lynch mob if he treads on their ground too often. Can't be too upset, most of them are our customers too.........................
We will keep you updated as this story unfolds and congrats to both Chis and Todd on the outstanding performance and keep it up!!

Here's one for the record books two sanctioning bodies hold races in the same state on the same
weekend and Rob Golobo wins them both!!!!! Really the NSCA and PRO held races on the same weekend in Michigan and some racers talked about hitting both and dreamed of winning them both but Rob Golobo made dreams come true. The funny thing for us is that our customers also pulled off a runner up at the two events . In the NSCA Kevin Parent went just red on Rob in the final and in the PRO series LONGTIME customer and good friend Ross Stomp gave Rob a scare with final round 7.67 @180mph to a 7.69 @ 176mph. I
cant wait to see what they do next maybe somebody could try for three!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again to our customers they keep my life filled with anticipation...............

If there were any doubts left that the team of Steve Petty and Tim Lynch rule the quarter mile in Outlaw 10.5 they are gone now. At the Fun Ford race in Cordova IL Petty and Lynch silenced the nay sayers. During qualifying they laid down not just one but two six second passes a 6.930 @202.33 mph and a 6.984. The car better known as " Shredder 2 " has been under going some changes and has been out for the first part of the season. With all the changes complete they came out with one point to prove. And I think they did it. Now that they are back let the rumors fly. There is the match race with Billy, the match race with Moyer the match race with my mom.... you get the drift. Well if that's what you want then just stay tuned. They will be giving everyone a shot if they want it. They are running all over the Country this year so show up and take your shot. This weekend (June 17th and 18th) they will be at the Clash Of The Titans series in Tulsa, OK. to take on the best in the Midwest. I will be there to set up the race between Tim and my mom ( I think he's scared ) but I'm working on it... ha ha ha Seriously they are at the top and everyone has taken aim. Once again congrats to the boys from Georgia on another WORLD RECORD setting weekend. And if you think you can take them 2 out of 3 best of luck...... but you know what I say......If you don't have a Neal Chance, you don't have chance!!!!!

Manny B. has dominated the NMRA SSO class this year. But most impressive of all is his win at the World Ford Challenge 8 this past weekend. Manny brought his 3030 pound stock floor pan, stock frame rail, 360 ci Victor headed turbo powered small block Ford Mustang and took on the baddest in the land. Everything from turbos, nitrous, blowers, cars with 4-links, and CLUTCHES (boooo) and he whooped them all. In the finals he took on Dan Millen and took the win running a 7.37 @ 194mph. That run also produced a 4.84 @ 155mph 1/8 mile both of which are WORLD RECORD PASSES on a “true ten” 28 x 10.5 tire. Next time you see Manny in the pits give him his props and a pat on the back.

Car owner Ken Nelson and stock suspension guru David Wolfe of Wolfe Race Craft have teamed up and the results are mind blowing. The car is a total Wolfe built masterpiece from the 25.5 cage to the double swaybar full Wolfe stock suspension and much much more. More photos are available @ www.wolferacecraft.com. They have built the car to compete in both Drag Radial and Limited Street classes. In the Texas True 10.5 limited street class David drove the car to a win and a frist round 4.86 @ 153 mph and a final round 4.87 @ 154 mph on 29.5 x10.5 non W's @ 3200 lbs. David is a long time customer of NCRC and we would like to wish him luck in his new ride.

The Hargett crew has unleashed its new ride on to the NSCA Pro Outlaw ranks and it definatley left a mark!!! At the Nsca event in Commerce Georgia Ryan took out #1 qualified Marc Dantoni on his way to a runner up finish in the class. The Fulton powered 706 ci Vette will definatley be a contender as the year progresses keep an eye out for this giant killer. Congats to the entire Hargett team and thanks for letting NCRC be a part of it.

Earlier in the year we here at NCRC had told you to keep an eye on this bad new entry in Pro 5.0. And now we are proud to say they have the first win in the class. Tom and crew took the "Grounded" 1967 Mustang to a win at the Martin, MI NMRA event running a 7.24 @ 189.92 mph. One thing Marty Chance (owner of NCRC) believes in is customer support after the sale. We have been working with Tom on some changes and you should see some definate gains in the next few races. We here at NCRC once again would like to send our congrats to the entire Jacobs camp and look forward to working with them in thier future success.

ORSCA Outlaw 10.5 ran at Memphis in the second event of the year and once again NCRC customers dominate. NCRC Customer Joey Martin re-set the E.T record to a 4.532 and set #1 qualifier. And after a runner up effort at the first event Terry Robbins blasts through the field to get the win and take the points lead. Terry faced another NCRC customer 2004 World Champion Jack Barfield in the final but Jack went red by -.001 and Terry marhced on to the win. Good luck to all the NCRC customers in the ORSCA in the next event at Fayetteville, NC..

At the ORSCA opener in Huntsville March 18-20 NCRC customers rocked the clocks. Joey Martin driving for owner Tim Tindle in the first race for their new Camaro sets the MPH record to a blistering 162.28 (1/8 mile). And to top off the “car that was built in seven weeks” they also put the car in the winners circle! A BIG congrats to those guys.
Now the E.T record… our long time customer Terry Robbins has set this before and just keeps getting faster and faster. He has now lowered the mark to a 4.534 and was looking for more but fell short in the semi final round, He will definitely go for this one again at the upcoming event on the first weekend of April. Keep your eyes on him, that Camaro is definitely a silver bullet. Now for the topper NCRC customers finish 1,2,3,4... this just proves if you don’t have a Chance you don’t have a chance in outlaw 10.5
- Joey Martin (Tim Tindle) WINNER
- Chuck Ulsch (Gil Mobley) RUNNER UP
-
Terry Robbins SEMIS
- Craig Miller SEMIS

We now have another member of the 7 second club on drag radials. Jim Filipowski running in the NSCA this past weekend set a new class record with his 7.917 @ 183.19. He also set #1 qualifier of course and went on to win the first event of the year. Not a bad start to 2005. Jim joins an elite few for now but I expect this year is going to make this the norm if you expect to win. We here at NCRC are proud to say that every 7 second drag radial car in the world runs a Neal Chance converter. Congrats go out to Jim and his crew for the accomplishment and I know we will hear from him again very very soon.

This past weekend in Bradenton FL was the season opener for the NMRA series and we would like to congratulate Manny and his team for their #1 qualifying and winning effort. Manny along with his crew have been doing a lot of testing and it has definitely paid off. Manny set the #1 spot with a 7.607 @ 187.03. We are glad to have such dedicated customers on our team here at NCRC. I met Manny this past year at Kansas City and had a blast hanging out. If you are a little on the crazy side introduce yourself to him and trust me he will make you feel right at home.

Donny Walsh Jr. and crew are tearing up the Pro 5.0 ranks once again. The first race of the 2005 season for Donny was at Orlando for the Fun Ford season opener. I'm sure it was an emotional weekend as Donny had not been to Orlando since losing his very close friend Steve Grebeck to a wreck at that track not long ago. Steve's memory is carried on by Donny always with his name as the passenger on his car. Donny finished #2 at the race and then set his sights on the NMRA event the next weekend at Brandenton. In the season opener for NMRA Donny and crew grabbed the #1 qualifier and the win. Not a bad start to 2005 for the Walsh camp!!! Keep watching I'm sure there will be more from them as the year goes on. Check out the new paint job for 2005.
| |
| |
Pro 5.0 has a couple of guys that you might want to keep your eye on in the 2005 season. First the wild paint schemed, twin turbo, fastest Powerglide equipped doorslammer in the WORLD, Probe driven by Ben Hopko. Ben and team laid down some serious numbers at the season opener for Fun Ford running 6.532 @ 210 mph and 6.570 @ 217.97. Keep an eye out as they have a mission that includes a championship and with this start that's not a far reach.
| |
| | Also adding a new and exciting look to Pro 5.0 for the 2005 season is Tom Jacobs. His 67 Mustang has definitely got the attention of us "older" (I'm only 34 I can't believe I said that) race fans as well as the younger crowd. Looking at the numbers in their first two races they seem to be getting a handle on the car really quick. Hope they can keep it up as they are a welcome addition to the Neal Chance team.
| |
| |
At the season opener for NSCA the big cars are still alive!!!! And we would like to send out congrats to both Kevin Parent #1 qualifier and winner and David Beeson #2 qualifier and runner up. Kevin has been a loyal NCRC customer for awhile now and we are glad to add the likes of the Beeson team to our stable. After meeting both of them at Orlando this year for the first time I can honestly say they are great people. My thanks go out to Mike and Skip Foulk for hooking us up with the Beeson crew and we look forward to helping them succeed in any way we can for the future.

Ron Muenks from Springfield Missouri won the 2005 NHRA Pro Stock Superbowl in Houston with his "Little Black Bat" Pro Mod using a Lenco Drive & Neal Chance Converter. With the first hit on the car at Houston they laid down a .979 60'!!. Not too bad, but he wanted to do a little better. So what did he do??? On the first weekend out he put the car in the winners circle at Houston!
Ron's team are looking forward to a great racing season. And we will keep you updated as the year continues. Ron would like to thank Larry Jeffers for the way cool ride, Larry at Schnieders Motorsport for help with the tune, and his familly friends and crew for all the support.

Smooky Hall sets Nitrous Powered Drag Radial Record
at 1st Bradenton U.S. Street Nationals
7.87@181 |
All of us here at Neal Chance are now proud to say we have customers like this. We love it when we can help anyone achieve such outstanding performance. The drag radial class is really becoming the one to watch with stock suspensions, traction limited tires and no wheelie bars it takes a special breed to drive theses cars into the 7 second range. We are proud to say that we now have added Smooky Hall to the list of our 7 sec drag radial club. Anyone else crazy enough??? If so I bet they will be a Neal Chance customer!!!!
